North Korea

In 1994 there were lots of problems with North Korea threatening to begin processing spent nuclear fuel. President Clinton then decided to prepare for war. Clinton then secretly sent me to undertake a peace mission to North Korea. Clinton thought that I could lead the North Korean President down again.
I then made a peace treaty with North Korea. I also made the announcement on the news, so that the US would be forced into action. In the treaty North Korea agreed to stop and dismantle the nuclear testing program. They also agreed to follow nonproliferation obligations in exchange for oil. Overall the treaty was very successful and helpful.

End of the crisis

Today is January 20, 1981 president elect Ronald Reagen has been sworn into office and the hostages from the American embassy have been released. However about one year earlier Iraq invaded Iran and the situation has not been good. This war is being fought with chemical weapons and other horrible weapons which begs the question why must people kill each other?

Algiers Accords

Today is January 19, 1981, I am in Algeria to resolve the hostage crisis in Iran. I have signed the Algiers Accords that will hopefully end in the release of the 53 Americans who were take hostage by radical Iranian students. Now hopefully the hostages will be back on US soil soon. After 444 days it will be great to have them back home.

Iran Hostage Crisis rescue

Today is April 24, 1980, I have initiated operation Eagle Claw to rescue the hostages trapped in the American embassy in Tehran. The operation failed. The end result was that two air crafts were destroyed along with the deaths of eight American servicemen and one Iranian civilian. Every day I feel less optimistic about the hostage crisis, I can only hope that blood is not spilt over this.

Iran Hostage Crisis

Today is November 4,1979, 53 Americans have been taken hostage at an American embassy by a group of Iranian radical students. Prior to that incident the embassy had been taken over by Muslim students and militants, supporting the Iranian Revolution. However the radical students took the hostages, were upset by the fact that we had allowed the Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlivi to receive medical care in the United States.

Nobel Peace Prize

In 2002 I was given the Nobel peace prize. It was a big honor to me to receive this. The main reason was for my humanitarian work. This was through The Carter Center. I had been trying very hard to create peace in the Middle East, and am very proud to be recognized for my hard work.
I have also been working with Habitat for Humanity. I first started working with Habitat for Humanity in 1984. I started by leading a work group to New York City to help renovate a building for 19 families. I then continued to help people, and try to create peace. Once, again I am very glad to have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
